The Dolomites are a mountain range in northeastern Italy, part of the Southern Limestone Alps and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The highest point is Mount Marmolada, height 3342–3343 m. The mountains are located on the territory of Trentino-Alto-Adige, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. Their name comes from the mineral and rock of the dolomite, named after the French geologist Deode de Dolomieu, who was the first to explore the region in the 18th century. The phenomenon of Enrosadir (Alpenglow) - at sunrise and sunset, the peaks are painted in pink, fiery red and purple tones due to the reflection of light from light rocks.
