The Dolomites are a mountain range in northeastern Italy, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2009. This is one of the most picturesque mountainous regions in the world, known for its sheer rocks made of light dolomite, which turns pink and red at sunset (the phenomenon of "enrosadir"). The highest point: Mount Marmolada (3343 m), where the largest glacier in the region is located. The region is very popular among trekkers and climbers.
