Madagascar | 2016

Madagascar is an island state in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa, the fourth largest island in the world. The island is known for its unique flora and fauna: more than 90% of species are not found anywhere else in the world. The symbols of the island are lemurs (about 100 species) and majestic baobabs. The central part is occupied by the High Plateau, the highest point is the Marumukutru volcano (2876 m). It is famous for its limestone rocks. Madagascar remains one of the poorest countries in the world; about 92% of the population lives on less than $2 a day.
