Myanmar | 2019

Chin State is a mountainous, western state in Myanmar (Burma), known as the "Chin Hills," bordering India and Bangladesh, famous for its diverse ethnic groups (like the tattooed-faced women of the U-Pu), unique cultures, handicrafts, Christianity (due to missionary work), and rugged beauty, though it's also Myanmar's poorest and least-developed region. A remote enclave of highlands and rolling hills, the Chin State has long been home to a host of unique tribes and cultures. Proud and independent, such peoples have maintained their traditions even in the face of encroachment from outsiders.
