Kailas (Kailasha) is a sacred quadrilateral mountain in Tibet, revered by Hindus (the abode of Shiva), Buddhists, Jains and followers of the Bon religion, a symbol of the "axis of peace" and a center of pilgrimage, remaining unconquered due to religious and mystical reasons. Pilgrims make a bark (bypass) around the mountain to cleanse from sins, and its pyramidal shape and unusual properties attract spirituality seekers from all over the world. It is located at Western Tibetan plateau, China, near the border with Nepal. The great rivers India, Indus, Brahmaputra and Karnali originate from Kailas, which emphasizes its status as the "heart of the world". Every year, thousands of people make a "cora" - a 54-kilometer tour of the mountain, believing that 108 circles lead to enlightenment, and one circle erases sins.
